Easterfest 2013
Today's communication uses social media as a crutch. Without a doubt, Easterfest 2013 features a proactive example of social media used to connect an information hungry crowd 24/7 communication. Of course this is no easy achievement, and takes months of planning with a crew of professionals at hand who know the ins and outs of media and communication.
So my lack of contact this weekend can be directly blamed on the fact I was enjoying myself at Easterfest in Toowoomba :) This Christian music festival has been an iconic event for Toowoomba and among music goers nation wide. It attracts famous artists from across the globe- this year featuring talent such as James Morrison (trumpeter) Relient K, Audio Adrenline and my favourite, Peter Furler, who I was even lucky enough to get a personal video message from :)Easterfest offers its attendants everything from online timetables, live streaming of performances to an active team of Twitter, facebook and instagram account managers to continually feed updates. There was no lack of information when in need for the latest news. Weather reports, artists performances or changes to the timetable were always available and addressed. Easterfest has gone from a simple music festival, back in the day AGMF (Australian Gospel Music Festival) to a lively, interactive community both on-ground and online.
With the growth in social media activeness, Easterfest has set itself up to become a forerunner advocate for organizations wanting to launch causes, ideas, representatives and products. Easterfest is proving itself to deliver high traffic social media awareness and activity during the 3 days it runs, and throughout the weeks of setting up beforehand. The more communication at hand and dispersed to the audience, the bigger and better Easterfest becomes. I could already see a huge growth in the talk about the event with my circle of friends. The social networking side allows artists to more readily interact with fans, offer exclusive performances and maintain the ongoing connections generated. Easterfest becomes a 'friend' to its attendants rather than just a public service.
I'm so excited to see Easterfest continue to grow and shape with the help of social media. The level and quality of communication provided by this event has definitely drawn people in and identified a tight-knit community who are craving this exciting potential for interactive opportunity.
Easterfest is a prime example of communication success- involving the community you're appealing to involves identifying the needs of the public and grasping the communication channels they rely on. Well done Easterfest
Sarah
